With the extreme climatic events of recent years, 2005-2006 drought and 2007 record rainfall year, many trees in Oklahoma are stressed allowing diseases to attack them. The most common reported disease issue in Oklahoma has been Oak Decline. This is a stress caused decline usually resulting in tree mortality. The final stage is usually identified as Hypoxylon Canker. Hypoxylon Canker is not able to cause mortality to healthy trees. It is only successful in stressed trees.
