Statewide Discussion: Weekend rains and a cool start will result in reduced fire danger across Oklahoma today as higher relative humidity values will, in large part, limit fine fuel moisture from falling into levels of concern. However, Cimarron and Texas Counties are expected to see falling relative humidity values with fuel moisture dipping to 5 or 6% for a brief period this afternoon. Fortunately, this will be very short-lived, winds will be light and fuel moisture is expected to recover rapidly with sunset.

No significant fire weather is expected through the week as temperatures fall. Building rain chances this afternoon and evening across eastern Oklahoma and a second system mid-week with a chance for winter precipitation in the northern tier of the state will serve to limit fire danger.
