In order to productively address the present and future land use needs, land owners and managers must be well versed in all aspects of wildland and wildland-urban-interface (WUI) fire.  OFS is Oklahoma's lead agency related to wildland fire prevention, protection and use.  Oklahoma Forestry Services

• conducts initial attack fire suppression on more than six million acres of forests and grasslands
• assists landowners with forest management which includes planning the use of prescribed fire for ecological benefits.
• assists communities in the development of Community Wildfire Protection Plans and Firewise Plans.
• conducts fire prevention activities including displays at public events, school programs, and Smokey Bear visits.

Our Rural Fire Defense Program provides assistance to communities to develop their fire suppression capabilities by providing training, equipment, vehicles and grants.
